ನೆಲವರ್ಧ ಜಲವರ್ಧ ಸೇರಲೀ ಭೂಗೋಳ |
ತಲೆಯರ್ಧವೆದೆಯರ್ಧ ಮನುಜ ಸಂಸಾರ ||
ನಲಿವರ್ಧವಳಲರ್ಧ ಮನುಜ ಜೀವಿತಸಾರ |
ಕಲಿತಿದನು ಬಾಳೆಲವೊ - ಮರುಳ ಮುನಿಯ || (೬೫೨)

ನಾವು ವಾಸಿಸುತ್ತಿರುವ ಪ್ರಪಂಚವು ಅರ್ಧ ನೆಲ ಮತ್ತು ಅರ್ಧ ನೀರಿನಿಂದ ಕೂಡಿಕೊಂಡಿದೆ. ಮನುಷ್ಯನ ಸಂಸಾರವಾದರೋ ಅರ್ಧ ಬುದ್ಧಿಶಕ್ತಿ ಮತ್ತು ಅರ್ಧ ಹೃದಯವನ್ನವಲಂಬಿಸಿ ಸಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಮನುಷ್ಯನ ಬಾಳುವೆಯ ತಿರುಳು ಅರ್ಧ ಸಂತೋಷ ಮತ್ತು ಅರ್ಧ ದುಃಖಗಳನ್ನೊಳಗೊಂಡಿದೆ. ನೀನು ಇದನ್ನು ಅರಿತುಕೊಂಡು ನಿನ್ನ ಜೀವನವನ್ನು ಸಾಗಿಸು.
