ಫಲಪುಷ್ಪ ಸವಿವಂದು ಗಿಡದ ಬೇರೆಣಿಸದಿರು |
ಮಲಸಾರ ಬುಡದೊಳಿರೆ ಮೇಲೆ ರಸಗಂಧ ||
ಕೆಲ ಚೆಲುವು ಹೊಲಸಿಂದೆ ಕೆಲ ಹೊಲಸು ಚೆಲುವಿಂದೆ |
ಇಳೆಯ ಕೆಣಕುವುದೇಕೆ? - ಮರುಳ ಮುನಿಯ || (೫೭೫)

ಹೂವು ಮತ್ತು ಹಣ್ಣುಗಳನ್ನು ನೀನು ಸವಿಯುವಾಗ ಆ ಗಿಡದ ಬೇರುಗಳ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಚಿಂತಿಸಬೇಡ. ಗಿಡದ ಬುಡದಲ್ಲಿ ಗೊಬ್ಬರವಿದ್ದರೂ ಸಹ ಗಿಡದ ಮೇಲೆ ರಸ ಮತ್ತು ಸುಗಂಧಗಳಿವೆ. ಕೆಲವು ಸೊಗಸು ಹೊಲಸಿನಿಂದುಂಟಾದರೆ, ಕೆಲವು ಹೊಲಸುಗಳು ಚೆಲುವಿನಿಂದಾಗುತ್ತವೆ. ನೀನು ಭೂಮಿ(ಇಳೆ)ಯನ್ನು ಏಕೆ ಕೆಣಕುತ್ತೀಯೆ?
