ಜೀವಿತವೆ ನಾಟಕವೊ ಜೀವವೇ ಸೂತ್ರಧಾರ |
ನಾವು ನೀವವರೆಲ್ಲ ಪಾತ್ರಗಳು ವಿವಿಧ ||
ಭೂವಿಲಾಸವೆ ರಂಗ ಮನುಜ ಕಥೆಯೇ ದೃಶ್ಯ |
ದೇವನಾ ಲೀಲೆಯಿದು - ಮರುಳ ಮುನಿಯ || (೩೫೯)

ಈ ಜೀವನವೆಲ್ಲವೂ ಒಂದು ನಾಟಕವೇ ಹೌದು. ಇದಕ್ಕೆ ಸೂತ್ರಧಾರನಾಗಿರುವುದು ಜೀವ. ನಾವು, ನೀವು ಮತ್ತು ಉಳಿದವರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ವಿವಿಧ ಪಾತ್ರಧಾರಿಗಳು. ಈ ಪ್ರಪಂಚದ ವಿದ್ಯಮಾನವೆ ಒಂದು ರಂಗಮಂಟಪ. ಮನುಷ್ಯರುಗಳ ಕಥೆಯೇ ನಾಟಕದ ದೃಶ್ಯಗಳು. ಇವೆಲ್ಲ ಜಗದೀಶನ ಆಟಗಳಾಗಿವೆ.
